The Book of Five Rings - 「五輪書」(宮本武蔵)

Firstly I am a great fanatic of Japanese feudal war series, especially the Edo Jidai where warlords and samurais rule the continent of ancient Japan. The illusionary depiction of brutal samurais were pretty much misleading when these ever-talented gentlemen were not only skilled in sword techniques, they were also well-versed in calligraphy and poetry. They based their entire lives serving their masters with genuine loyalty eventhough they are just a special breed of soldiers who will carry out the "dirty" missions. Much like the special forces today.

Many important lessons, strategies, art and history flourished during this time and eventhough that's like almost 400 years ago, many today still seek reference from the legendary names and tactics used in the past.

Infact there are too many names to list so that explains my post title...The Book of Five Rings (五輪書) written by Miyamoto Musashi (宮本武蔵), probably the most famous sword fighter amongst all others. This book is my latest craze to "immerse" myself back into the past and learn the essence of these gems created by mortals who became legends and whose names still ring 400 years after their death and probably passed on generations after generations.

There are too many versions and variations of the book after being translated to so many languages and distortions are inevitable so this one is probably the most accurate for the English version. Maybe someday my Japanese standard can reach the level when I could understand the ancient Japanese that Musashi first penned without any distortions but that's for the distant future. So for now, I'll just stick to the good old English which most of us are proficient in.

As for the contents, you can try searching the internet and I'm sure you'd probably find a lot more but this book in particular has pictures of the original paintings by Miyamoto Musashi from a private collection which also can be found on the internet, that is if you have so much free time. Okay I am sarcastic but for me, I would definitely want a physical possession of such gems from the past if you know what I mean. Here's the cover...

So that's the end of my Christmas presents and here's my NIKE shoe pic...nothing really different from the pink box except the tag...

Well most might agree that this pair is of not much difference to the P.Rod model and very much similar...that's pretty true but I kinda fell for this pair first because of the color combination but after I got the P.Rod model, YEAH the red/black combination really looks nice! So now i kinda like both shoes. Went down to Gallery at Pacific Plaza today with Bryan and Ben, and I saw the one and only pair of DC shoe mixed by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park on display. I must confess, it LOOKED REALLY DARN nice! But...too bad I am not gonna get it. Still prefer to stick to my good old black, suede skate shoes!

And very soon, a NEW year will start and what lies ahead who shall know till time tell all secrets and reveal all truths!

WHAT a Christmas...

Firstly, Christmas Eve was great, met up with Momoko and friends...Momoko wore a MUKLUK boot specially flown in from Japan. Definitely left a great impression on me even till now. Everyone was looking at the boots and even I can't help staring at it time and again...Stares from strangers and the awe from their face..hehe now I can feel what's it like to be bathing in the limelight even though I was definitely not the STAR of the nite!

See what I mean...I say who could stop looking and gawked at the ATTENTION glowing from these boots! Anyway she wore a light beige one and I was like, "Boy, sometimes I feel girls are so darn lucky" 'cos they could wear THESE DAMN COOL BOOTS! and if a guy were to wear it, he'd be probably gay, not straight, lame or even mocked at or thrashed at!

Ok so enuff of Christmas Eve, so too bad I dont have the camera now so I can't upload the pics of the SoOoOoOoOo nice presents I got, therefore I shall skip right to Christmas...

Spent the nite over at Kent's house with the rest of the SGSkaters' Forum skaters. Quite a hell lots of people...and not to mention the TURKEY was GREAT with the cranberry sauce all thanks to Kent's wife. A real HEARTY meal I had there and I was so reluctant to leave cos I wanted more food...And I learnt from those skaters that had skated earlier at Orchard before coming to Kent's house that town was damn crowded and the Bangalas (FUCK YOU ASSHOLES, I mean verbally!) were taking the opportunity of the festive season to outrage the modesty of the females. DAMN what a thing to hear and I also learnt that many of these son of bitches were actually slapped so hard by the outRAGED females that they probably can't remember their father's names! Hehe and so I made my way home around 12am by cab and upon reaching my house, mailto:?!?@?#?$@!$!%

There was this chap lying on the ground with 2 Police cars, 3 Policemen and 2 Forensic personnel taking pictures of the bastard that had just jumped of my block! WHAT THE MOTHER FUCKING SHIT DID HE DO THAT FOR? I don't really care for WHAT FUCK reason he had for killing himself but that's no reason to "taint" my block! I wished I could scream "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO DIE YOU MOTHER FUCKING BASTARD!" The Police cordon off the front of the lift section and I had to use the back to access the lift so FUCK YOU EVEN YOU'RE DEAD ASSHOLE for giving me so much trouble for your shit. Then upon reaching my floor, MY FUCKING GOD! It was cordon AGAIN and a Policeman was standing there. Oh I get it, he MOTHER FUCKING JUMPED OFF from my corridor and left his not so nice shoes there! KKNABEI CCB FUCK YOUR MOTHER AND ALL YOUR ANCESTOR! Of all the place, why my block and WHY GOD DAMMIT, FUCKING ASSHOLE my corridor...and take the damn shoes with you! ASSHOLE making the cops work eatra hard on the Nite of Christmas! Wished I could take pictures of that asshole and splat his concave face all over the internet!

Wow Wow Wow, what a way to end the nice festive season all thanks to MOTHER FUCKERS like that! So hope you all had a nice Christmas!

I BOUGHT ANOTHER NIKE SHOE!

A BIG sorry to all you shoe fanatics out there but I so happen to pop by Galley at Pacific Plaza yesterday after noon where I got My Nike P.Rod skate shoe, GUESS WHAT? They actually restock 1, YES, OMFG! 1 more pair of Nike Zoom Team Edition Black/Black/Gum US Size 9.5! Gosh, I must have been a REALLY good boy to receive such luck. To tink that I wanted that shoe so badly and because they didn't have my size, I had to settle for the P.Rod Model, Damn and NO I AIN'T searching for it anymore from the internet sites. I bloody hell got it for an unbelievable price of SGD$129 right on home turf after seaching for it for countless nites on the internet and begging lots of kind people to order it for me. A BIG THANKS PEEPS but I've got the shoe! I'm surely saving THESE NEW NIKE for the Chinese New Year. SGD$129 is like fucking cheap for a decent pair of really really cool NIKE skate shoes! Pardon me but the Endorphin and Adrenelin is bleeding all over the tubes in my body...still recovering from the aftermath of getting my DREAM SHOES!

So, I happen to be at Joo Chiat just now and WOW! A BIG shoe, ops! I mean show was going on...the plain clothes POLICEMEN were in the midst of rounding up the illegal vice activities. WHAT A SHOW! What a show...3 decent, looking white vans except for the weird grills in the van were park outside a pub next to Hotel 81, Sakura. GIRLS, yes many of them whom I tink are Thais or Filipinos or maybe Viets? Were being led up to these vans and once inside, they look pretty pathetic...like caged animals! Poor things...and each and everyone of them had 1 of their hands tied to their friends. Loads of curious people looking and the traffic was JAMMED! Then outta of nowhere came a BIG, White Bus with the words "Immigration and Customs..." hauling up at least 30 odd girls and guys...WOW what a show! So it was 1 big, white bus, followed by 3 vans all jammed pack with girls leaving Joo Chiat but still tons of curious people were all still there and loads of plain clothes POLICEMEN still "surveying" the scene. The boss of the PUB was seen trying to explain to save his ass from being BUSTED!

Really interesting day today...to sum it up, here it goes:-
1. Early morning bike accident that jammed up CTE,
2. 3 car crashes in the evening that jammed up PIE,
3. Interesting "Operation Vice Buster" going on at Joo Chiat.

Nike H6 Object of Desire Drum Bag Part 1

Saw someone carrying this bag sometime last week and BOY I was hooked to this bag ever since...Though I am a guy, I really really like the design of the bag, especially the white/gold combinations. The design is simple and yet sporty and the bag is SOLD OUT at most Nike speciality shops acound Singapore. It's really really hard to find on the internet as well unless you try searching with "BA1238" and a couple of listings in Japanese and some China sites might have it.

DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU...the time now is 12.36am, 18 DEC 2005, and the only places that have it now is Limited Edition at Queensway (I think 8~9 white pieces left!) and the Nike shop at basement 1 at Plaza Singapura. The colors available are white/gold, black/gold and pink/gold. The white one was told to me to be a limited edition version...not sure about the other 2 so better get yours now before it's all gone

Sry for the weird title cos I don't really know what to put so just kinda grab anything that come to my head...

Firstly UPDATES!, Thursday, 15 Dec, 2005. Work in the day and as usual, simple stuffs to do but I was definitely looking forward to the nite cos I was invited to a SIM bash + Beauty pageant held at China Black that I humbly accepted. Reason being pretty simple, it was Yujing that invited me and Claris (Yujing's friend that I happen to know) was in the contest. It's definitely without any doubt that I will go there to give Claris my support along with the rest of Yujing's gang...

And so it was like sooo long that I last step into a club though many people out there don't believe me...Hey hey I mean I really really haven't club for a long time now. There's really nothing to get outta of clubbing and the kinda expenses there every week could be put to good use. Maybe sometime in the future when I am working, a good chill out once in a while should be fine...but at least for now, I will skip the clubbing part except on special occasions.

Okay back to the pageant, though Claris was like definitely the dark horse given the cheers and response by the masses there at China Black, her partner, Marcus was a crowd favourite! He's cute I must confess but too bad I don't have the pictures. SORRY VAMPTRESS! Hehe I know you'd definitely wanna see his pic! Claris's actions and speeches were 2x the normal speed throughout the pageant and I guess that's probably because she's NERVOUS! But who cares cos at the end of the nite, CLARIS WON! CLARIS WAS CROWNED Miss SIM-UOL 2005. Wow, God I swear I didn't know how gorgeous she was when she's in skool...hehe all I know was that she had a kick-ass attitude and a breath-stealing charm! But anyway WAY to GO Claris and congrats! (P.S. Claris is attached to a really really cute guy so don't bother!)

And so Friday, 16 Dec 2005. Went skating at East Coast Park. Nothing really much and nothing really interesting. Ended the nite by skating from East Coast Park to Esplanade and took MRT back home.

Finally, the man himself is back...finally got a spare 14" monitor from my God-bro after the old one broke down for a blasted, darn long time ago. "Mai Hiam" this small, old bugger still works fine though the print are almost like nano-script. Well for the previous one, it was like fuzzing and a little "gentle" hit on the top works fine initially until hardcore banging still cannot dispel the fuzzy image then I know it's there...yeah the light at the end of the tunnel finally got to it.

AND YEAH...I bought a new shoe. Without further ado, here it is...

There you have it...the latest skate shoe that I acquired. Design by a teen skate Paul Rodriguez who skate for the Nike Team. Full black suede material, gum soles and complete with 3 laces, black, white and red! And yes the box comes in the default PINK color which I used to hate but come to think of it, I kinda liked it these days. The interior of the box is pretty nicely decorated with wood like designs and even the wrapping paper was not spared of the details. Actually was planning to get the Nike SB Zoom Team Edition as I prefer monotone stuffs (tink black and white) but too bad they were outta of sizes...only a size 10 was available and that was definitely too big...so the next best was this one. The Nike SB Dunk Low was not bad too but the color combi was black with orange so finally I settled for this black/red combi. Was expecting like to fork out $200+ but was surprised that it's less than that given that most previous shoes of this type would be around that price. Cool...and the Singapore have only 2 Official shops for these shoes and each size has only one pair per shop (That's what the shop guy said but it sounds pretty credible!).

Okay though I tink I might have said this before, I'm a shoe freak despite being a guy...yeah I know it's a girl thingy but I really loves SHOES...and I love furry boots too but too bad they only look good on ladies presumably with long slender legs. Cos the boots would only make you look shorter if you are already short as these gorgeous heavenly creations tends to accentuate the long slender legs even more. Gosh I loves shoes and fluffy boots and foot fetish? A little but shoe fetish is definitely a YES! Sometimes even to the extent to dream and hope to be a aspiring shoe designer...darn.

Actually got a hell lotsa stuffs to update but somehow my little brain seems to be "Malfunctioning" now...Oh yeah, saw a fake Bathing Ape tee at Marina that spells "Ape shall never kill Gorilla". Haha almost laugh my head off at that...went to Marina Sq to try out the infamous Carl's Jr burgers...A bit the pricey but it looks almost like those on the posters and advertisements, Fresh green (and I really mean GREEN!) lettuce and thick juicy tomatoes slices sandwiched between the beef patty and bread! Yummy! Eventhough the staff screwed up my order, I exchanged a half-eaten "normal" burger for a fresh, new Portobello mushroom burger...YUMMY!

And yeah don't forget to try the "Dian Xiao Er" Chinese stall on the second level...the Herbal DUCK featured on some Channel U food show is really, REALLY nice. Trust me go eat it and the taste would be lingering on your taste buds each time you think of it...cos i am already salivating now tinking of it...YUMMY!
